Sales Funnels are Basically Evil

Psychology is the practice of illuminating the issues within the human mind and identifying the correct tools needed to address the issues. For many people, this means counseling, medication, or cognitive behavior therapy; all three of which can be incredibly beneficial when used within a moral and ethical framework.

But there is a dark side to psychology, and unfortunately for most of us, that’s the side that’s been invisibly dominant since the dawn of time. It’s the side that knows how to push buttons, get people “riled up” for a cause. It’s the side that doesn’t encourage reflection, only action.

And the current king of impulse? The most insidious proof that people are easily manipulated towards a goal? The sales funnel.

The sales funnel is created to purposely drive it’s viewer into a highly volatile emotional state. From it’s story arc, to it’s images, to it’s countdown, a funnel is a website that’s only purpose is to force people into a mentally weakened state so that they give up their information just to make the madness stop.

Humans have to think of themselves as unique little raindrops. Each one of us existing in our own microcosm of importance until the inevitable splash.
